What’s happening in Sacramento ‘SB 697/AB 1117′ ?
I am so pleased to received a notice the SB 697 hearing was canceled requested by Author of the bill Senator Emmerson. What does that mean, really? Well folk, pet owners and people working in the animal industry supporting good services for great and small animals, the bill has been shelved. That is it. Plain and simple.
Did the Bill go away, not really? At any time the SB 697 can arise again, so ‘prevention is the cure’ we need to pay close attention and keep writing to our elected representatives. Remember ‘they’ where voted in by the voting populus of Californians.
Here is a bill that needs work: AB 1117 regarding ANIMAL ABUSE: PENALTIES, yes the bill has a hearing date May 3rd in Sacramento. For AB 1117 to pass, and the legislature needs to hears our voices. We need to read AB 1117, then write to our district representatives that includes Assembly, the Senate and the Author of the AB 1117 Smyth.
Here is the direct link so you can read the bill and decide for yourself. Is the bill strong enough to deter people from abusing animals? Will the Bill better serve the animals of California?
