Clifford The Big Red Truck

License PlateMany years ago I found my dream truck, yes I drive a truck. What girl does not drive a truck when living on a farm.  When I placed my search one important color I did not want was red. Yup that is a classic Murphy moment : ) The truck had the engine – turbo, tork, and trany, everything a girl wanted to pull her horse trailer : )

My son was in his first year of high school, and we have a tendency to name our trucks, even the tractor is  named, affectionately called “Poopy”.

Since we are both dog lovers, and love to read, one of my son’s favorite children’s book was, Clifford the Big Red Dog. Yes we still have the book, plan on reading it to the grand kids, well when my son finishes college and marries, preferrable once.

So my son, was given the honors to name  the new family truck, “Clifford”.  Back then, I did not get personal plates for the truck, and Now I am considering for this great cause.

Many Thanks for ASPCA sending me the special alert email about California new program to help our animals!!!! Here the letter I wanted to share with you who the artist is for the project ~ He is one hunky kinda guy plus a spy every guy wants to be, our very own 007 ~ 0 | 0 ~

 Dear California Supporters,

Pre-orders are being taken for the new California Pet Lover’s License Plate designed by actor/artist Pierce Brosnan and sponsored by the California Veterinary Medical Board.

This fun and colorful plate will not only jazz up your car—it will also help reduce the number of homeless pets in California!
ASPCA-Logo-Generic-2‘O on a side note: My son bought a great truck with a carpenters rack, of course his truck is smaller version of my truck, yup its red, and the first look at the truck, I thought this is a “Mini Me” : D…….. Wonder if I made the offer to get his personal plate would be ……… Will let you know!

What a great way to support fellow bloggers you admire!

Here are the rules that come with this award:

  • 1. Thank the blogger who gave you the award and link back to them.
  • 2. Reveal your top five picks and let them know by leaving a comment on their blog. ( In my research to know more about the Liebster Blog Award, there are other blogs that noted three. I do wish to state I offered to 5 very interesting blogs to participate, three responded, should the others respond I would be happy to post their blog pages… why? When you find a positive site you think others will enjoy it’s worth the extra effort : )
  • 3. Copy and paste the award on your blog.
  • 4. Hope that the people you’ve sent the award to forward it to their three/five favorite bloggers and keep it going!

The three blogs I would like to recommend are:

1. The Cows Are Coming Blog  Martin Rothery, this gentleman from the UK adds humor like no other, The blog is the ramblings of a bovine obsessed writer. His newly published book, ‘Cows” ~ Cows are trying to take over the world! But how would these normally docile creatures do such a thing?

2. Net Working Chick Elizabeth ~ The networking chick blog is for the 20 something woman and will discuss workplace issues, startups, social networking, and careers. Her articles are incredible insightful and joy to read. I could not resist, in my reply to Elizabeth, I mentioned what a great resource for boys and girls graduating from High School and College  looking to get out in the world.

3. The Illustrators Onion Blog Greg Jackson Freelance Illustrator Australia ~ Illustration can make you laugh, it can make you cry but it can’t make your lunch! Everday illustrators tackle the big questions…life? …love? …breakfast cereal? Greg posted his project ” Sketch Book Project 2012″. I so appreciate the arts. Thought this global art project needed to be shared for all ages to participate. You can review Greg’s work here: “The King of Toast”

To Foster Education one must Par-Take….March 3rd

Education funding today is a community challenge. The expression, “it take a village to raise a child” in regard to a well balance education including the latest tech software, to the arts and music programs. Leef inspires and continues to receive community support. Darby’s Story and Bangle Bear will be there to help and foster more!

So what is LEEF and do you have a program in your community?

“Who We Are”
The Lakeport Enhanced Education Foundation is a non-profit community-based organization established to provide financial support to education in Lakeport. Founded in 1992, LEEF was started by a small group of Lakeport residents who shared a common concern for funding education in the Lakeport community.

“What We Do”
The purpose of LEEF is to fund excellence in education and to broaden educational opportunities in Lakeport. Our emphasis is on public education in kindergarten through twelfth grade. LEEF’s grant program provides funding for educational enhancements as well as networking special projects. Particular attention has been given to district wide improvement and programs which otherwise would not exist or would operate at a lower level because of funding constraints.”Why We Are Needed”
It is increasingly difficult to ensure funding levels necessary to maintain educational excellence in Lakeport. In the face of budget constraints and mandates, the need for private investment in our public schools have never been greater. A grassroots effort such as LEEF is an effective way to maximize innovation in our schools and achieve educational opportunities.

“How We Will Do This”
LEEF believes that it is time for a broader and deeper support of education by the Lakeport community. LEEF raises funds from the local community, then returns the money to the Lakeport public schools through its grant program. Your involvement in LEEF can be your opportunity to contribute, in a positive and long-lasting way, to the children , the schools, and the community of Lakeport.

Does Your Community Have a Leef program and if so you can ask the author for your 501c3 book donations. Fill in the information on the page, “May we help you reach more”.

Read Across America Pledge

My goal to Read Across America  is to discover positive websites, articles to help parents and their children. To ask YOU to participate in celebrating  “reading is a joy”. I will do my homework on special sites and of course relative topics to animals, boys with dogs, blended family issues and the efforts to encourage pet adoption. Some of the post I think I will do on my own childhood favorite books, and those I have discovered from MCA Award Winning books. Write about my past teachers who have help me with my dyslexia, and I know there are children, boys and girls that are fearful, feel uncomfortable reading outloud. Even the concern for adults who now discover that they too can learn to read through Adult Literacy Programs. Let provide the encouragement … they can over come their challenges and find the pleasure to read and write.

Read Across America begins with Dr Suess Birthday, who will read “Read with the Trees” with Lorax? The Theme is “green”. What does that mean to you? For myself being green would be to take advantage of the new EBooks formates. From Kindle to Sony each day there seems to be a new App for downloading great books for children to read. So I want to share with you a green moment. Here is a coupon code for Darby’s Story EBook ~

Are you ready for some football?

This year bowl will be a good tough game, the players’ have worked hard, their minds are sharp, the coaches and trainers are ready. All have gone over each play physically and mentally. This Sunday at 3pm on Animal Plant The 8th Puppy Bowl is ready. Highlights of the starting team are set, ready to play a good game.

Puppy Bowl II DVD

Hey what happen to the Super Bowl? Well I wish each team their best game, Brady may win his 4th ring. Patriots v Giants will have a lots of moves, passes, and field goals. The commercials, the ones with early releases are a hoot, the VW Dogs barking the Star Wars theme is marvelous. I understand Madonna is singing half-time, should be good.

Let go back to the Puppy Bowl, most may not be aware of this, those puppies listed for the start-up game are available for adoption. http://animal.discovery.com/tv/puppy-bowl/starting-lineup/starting-lineup.html truly a fantastic way to reach and show the TV viewers the wonderful and talented variety of Puppies. I hope that even after the game, a person, a family would consider adopting a dog. If you’re not sure how to select a dog, first think about your lifestyle. For example is the back yard fenced, will the new family member stay with you and the family in the house, how much room and time will you have? Another thought to ponder are dogs are social creatures, they really want to be with you, in a dogs world that would be 24/7. Yet between work and the sports activities will the new member be there with you? Those are real questions to ask. In my own personal experience, adopted dogs are the best, Darby was an incredible, loving and smart. Darby was the best present I could have had, my son had the joy of growing up with Darby. Their adventures are captured in time, the photos around the house remind us to celebrate his life. You too can be included in Darby’s Life by reading his book or better than that adopt your own family dog. Create your own great life with your special pet.
