Clifford The Big Red Truck

License PlateMany years ago I found my dream truck, yes I drive a truck. What girl does not drive a truck when living on a farm.  When I placed my search one important color I did not want was red. Yup that is a classic Murphy moment : ) The truck had the engine – turbo, tork, and trany, everything a girl wanted to pull her horse trailer : )

My son was in his first year of high school, and we have a tendency to name our trucks, even the tractor is  named, affectionately called “Poopy”.

Since we are both dog lovers, and love to read, one of my son’s favorite children’s book was, Clifford the Big Red Dog. Yes we still have the book, plan on reading it to the grand kids, well when my son finishes college and marries, preferrable once.

So my son, was given the honors to name  the new family truck, “Clifford”.  Back then, I did not get personal plates for the truck, and Now I am considering for this great cause.

Many Thanks for ASPCA sending me the special alert email about California new program to help our animals!!!! Here the letter I wanted to share with you who the artist is for the project ~ He is one hunky kinda guy plus a spy every guy wants to be, our very own 007 ~ 0 | 0 ~

 Dear California Supporters,

Pre-orders are being taken for the new California Pet Lover’s License Plate designed by actor/artist Pierce Brosnan and sponsored by the California Veterinary Medical Board.

This fun and colorful plate will not only jazz up your car—it will also help reduce the number of homeless pets in California!
ASPCA-Logo-Generic-2‘O on a side note: My son bought a great truck with a carpenters rack, of course his truck is smaller version of my truck, yup its red, and the first look at the truck, I thought this is a “Mini Me” : D…….. Wonder if I made the offer to get his personal plate would be ……… Will let you know!

Well, this leaves a lot of unanswered questions, Martha. You didn’t tell us what kind of truck your dream truck turned out to be (although I’m glad that it had a motor — that’s important in a truck). You did say that you did NOT want a red truck. Yet you have named it Clifford, The Big Red Truck. Does that mean that it turned out to be a red truck after all? So many questions and so little available space…..

Thanks for sharing the info about the special plates. I wish we had a similar program here in Hawaii. I’d get them in a heartbeat.

Finally, I want to congratulate you for your optimism in thinking that your son will finish college, marry once, and give you grandkids. Good luck with that. Mine turned 40 this year and I’ve quit holding my breath.

    Aloha!

Morning Kay, Thank you for your reply to the blog! I hope readers will share this blog with other Cali animal lovers or possible inspire other (Your State) states to get on board. The article was fun and light hearted to write, so what is the name of your vihicle?
Regarding your son, read most recently young men think about marriage and kids in their 20 and 40’s, bypassing their 30 with singlehood. Keep breathing. If all fails you and I could rent grandkids for the day : )

Best to you this day ~ Martha

Our current car(s) have no names. We used to have a Plymouth Grand Voyager that we called the Trashmobile because you could live out of that car. Took it camping many a time. Loved that van. Drove it till it fell down and went boom.

The last car to bite the dust was The Queen Mary. It was a 1988 Lincoln Town Car. We bought it sight unseen for $1,000 and drove it for three years. The last year we had it,, it only drove in 2nd gear but what the heck — we only used it to drive a couple of blocks to the grocery and the pharmacy during the day. It finally bit the dust and we gave it to the Kidney Foundation. It got a thrifty 6 mpg; when it was running quietly, you could literally hear the gas sucking through that 8 cylinder engine. We called the The Queen Mary because it was so huge that my husband said trying to park that sucker was like trying to berth the Queen Mary.

Currently, we have a shiny new Prius with a license plate that says 62 MPG. Actually, my husband once got 63 on a trip from downtown Honolulu to Ko’olina (all flat land driving). Love that car but it remains nameless thus far.

The ASPCA program is a wonderful thing; the closest thing we have here in NH is the “Moose Plate,” which is for nature/environment, etc. (I have one of those…) Regardless of whether a plate is available, everyone could do worse than donating once and a while to the ASPCA. It’s an important cause. Thanks for bringing it to the forefront.

The Moose Plates are awesome, I visit NH annually. One of my favorite places to chill out!!! The lakes are clean and clear, the mountain ranges are beautiful especially in the fall. Thank you
