Lazy n Crazy Days of Summer

June 26, 2012 at 9:20 am 4 comments

June is a wonderful month for green pastures… the days are filled with the fragrance of flowers in bloom. The next generation of offspring have arrived. The morning air is clean and crisp ready and energized. The rains have final stopped and before the heat of July sets in there is a short period of time to complete the bigger chores on the farm.

The animals great and small are lazily mowing the tender shoot of spring grass, and before you know it, the warmth of the sun sends the grass into a think carpet of wild flowers; Pink, baby blues, yellow and white pop around the field. On a lazy afternoon the goats rest among the Monet painted fields. The horse lays flat sunning herself  for her afternoon nap. The  pleasures to see and a breath of peace to witness. Tranquility.

Before you know it, the green grasses after weeks of no rain start to turn, let the mowing begin.  The enjoyment of mowing is the solitude  behind the wheel, a personal choice is to sing to opera. Yes I find a selection in my head and sing along… ‘Maria’ works wonders or ‘Barber of Civil’  is another for the duration time spent mowing once was a beautiful water-color.

While I have spent the past several weeks mowing, Nicole Pyles had the opportunity to read Darby’s Story and Bangle Bear’s books. I am so pleased to share with other animal lovers the special message these two books offer. Nicole’s Blog writing, writers, blogs is a wonderful collection of book reviews. Here is a snip it for you,

“Anytime a book makes me cry, it’s a good sign. As another reviewer put it on, I felt like I was part of the family. I felt like I knew Darby and could reach inside the pages and pet him myself. And this definitely makes me want to go out and adopt a dog.”

“Bangle Bear’s personality is just as unique, much like any cat. And I love Martha Steward’s description of Bangle Bear’s “second meal” and insistence at sleeping with a particular family member.”

Please take a moment to read Nicole’s review on Darby’s Story and Bangle Bear. The variety of her book reviews will provide a good summer read.

Remember to have a great day. I will back soon to my desk with another Green Acres Report.

I could feel the lazy days of summer, laying in the grass and hearing the bees buzz around me as I was reading your post. The book Sounds delightful and one I would very much enjoy reading.

I do agree with you about a good cry and and good book and how they go together. 🙂

The summer is just started in Toronto. we are getting heat waves and cooler days. Too bad that the extremes are keeping me more indoor.
Glad that you are enjoying the warm days and nice books.

The extreme weather is a concern the reports from Florida and Colorado, families and their pets loosing their homes. Pets lost from the flood and fires just sad : (

Here in the Philippines, it’s been raining non-stop for the past few days. Reading this makes me miss the lazy days of summer, and wishing for the sun to shine here.
